AUN highlighted in “Mapping South-South Cooperation in ASEAN” on capacity and human resources development

In 2018, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, the ASEAM Secretariat, and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) have jointly initiated the publication of South-South Cooperation in ASEAN. The publication entitled “Mapping South-South Cooperation in ASEAN” introduces how South-South Cooperation concept is implemented in ASEAN member states. It also provides various case studies.

This publication highlights a number of implementations executed by ASEAN member states. ASEAN University Network (AUN) is one of the strongest regional implementing bodies of the cooperation and networking in ASEAN. In the publication, AUN is recognised to have contributed in the area of capacity building and human resources development in the region. The function, the mission and strategy, and the challenges of AUN are also discussed, and the Executive Director of AUN Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti was also interviewed. In dealing with the ever-emerging challenges in the region, in his interview, he emphasised the importance of critical thinking and creativity in higher education.
