The Guidelines for AUN Quality Assessment and Assessors & Framework for AUN-QA Strategic Action Plan 2012-2015 was the revision and compilation of the two documents, endorsed at the AUN-QA Chief Quality Officers’ Meeting on 21-22 February 2013 at Chiang Mai, Thailand for extensive usages and references. This document provides the operational structures and also the AUN-QA roadmap towards the year 2015, to act as the guidelines for future activities.AUN-QA Guidelines
The AUN-QA Guidelines was jointly written by the CQOs to be used as a manual and reference for distinct and unique QA movement in the ASEAN region. This guideline was endorsed in 2004 and is the very first version of the AUN-QA Guidelines.
With the Assistance from the ASEAN-EU University Network Programme (AUNP) in the area of QA, the EU Expert was recruited to conduct the surveys and workshops at the AUN Member Universities in 9 ASEAN Countries. In July 2005, the CQOs gathered at the ASEAN Regional Workshop on QA at Viet Nam National University- Ho Chi Minh City to discuss concepts and elements of internal and external assessment. In December 2005, the CQOs agreed to develop a working manual, supporting the universities for applying the AUN-QA Guidelines. At the 20th AUN-BOT Meeting in November 2006, the Board of Trustees endorsed the Manual for the Implementation of AUN-QA Guidelines as the AUN publication.
The AUN-QA Guidelines and Manual have served well as a tool for AUN member universities to implement and assess their quality and quality assurance system since their publication in 2004-2006. The AUN-QA Manual has also been translated into Chinese and Vietnamese edition.
At the end of 2010, AUN had successfully completed ten actual quality assessments at programme level involving twenty-three undergraduate programmes in seven AUN member universities within a 3-year period. In the last two years, AUN has also trained nineteen new assessors, thereby, increasing the pool of AUN assessors to twenty-five. These accomplishments would not be possible without the commitment and active support of AUN Board of Trustees (AUN-BOT), Chief Quality Officers (CQOs) and assessors of AUN member universities.
To further enhance and sustain quality assurance practices and quality in higher education, AUN establishes an AUN-QA Documentation Review Committee and Procedure to keep its documents updated and relevant. This guidebook is the fruit of the documentation review coupled with the feedback from CQOs.
