On 6 August 2020, higher education institutions from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and Thailand attended an orientation conducted by AUN-QA to prepare for the upcoming online/remote site visits for their Programme Assessments. Over 40 participants were in attendance including Heads of the QA Unit, Person-in-charge of study programmes, technical staff, and translators from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universitas Andalas, Universitas Indonesia and Chulalongkorn University.

The orientation includes the concepts and procedure for the online/remote site visit as well as instructions for how to use the equipment and how to manage the Zoom meeting for the visit.

Participants were informed about the entire process of conducting the online/remote site visit for AUN-QA Programme Assessments. This process includes the preparation, interviews, live streaming facility visits, and post-site-visit actions.

The AUN-QA Secretariat also compiled and shared their knowledge on how to use Zoom, based on their extended use of the application to organize international meetings during the COVID era. This included instructions on how to use Zoom as well as rules and etiquettes that will be essential for a successful online/remote site visit.

The attendees were enthusiastically engaged throughout the session and continued their active participation in the lively Q&A and breakout sessions for each university.

This orientation is one of the first steps necessary for AUN-QA to begin conducting remote/online site visits for Programme Assessments. The success of this orientation is a good sign of AUN-QA not only being able to resume its assessment services but also to be able to offer them at an even higher quality in the post-COVID era.
