Trust and support from UIN Malang behind success of 183rd AUN-QA Programme Assessment

By Rocio Maria Tabamo, AUN Intern

The 183rd AUN-QA Programme Assessment was conducted at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Indonesia (UIN Malang) from the 19th until the 23rd of October 2020.

Still, due to the restrictions that COVID-19 has brought, the first AUN-QA assessment at the university was conducted online. The assessment of four study programmes, specifically, Management, Biology, Islamic Family Law, and Arabic Language & Literature at the university was assessed by the team consisting of Mr. Prem Anand from a Finance Accreditation Agency in Malaysia, Dr. Marlene M. De Leon from Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines; Prof. Dr. Clarita Carillo from University of Santo Tomas, Philippines; Asst. Prof. Nimit Mengveha from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand; Prof. Ir. Dr. Shahrir Abdullah, Deputy Chairperson of AUN-QA Council and Dean at Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vongdeuan OSAY, Deputy Director General of the Department of Teacher Education, Ministry of Education and Sports, Laos; Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Riza Atiq Abdullah bin O.K. Rahmat, Director of Centre for Academic Advancement and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International Affairs), Malaysia; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Robert Roleda from De La Salle University, Philippines.

Despite the shift of these assessments from physical to virtual, the assessment conducted at UIN Malang has been very fruitful and made possible by the trust, support, and cooperation of the university. This assessment, moreover, has indeed contributed to the utilization of the Online/Remote Site Visit as a tool to continue to serve AUN’s member universities. With this, AUN-QA continues to deliver a better-quality assurance framework and develop Systems and Mechanisms to further improve higher education institutions in ASEAN.
