Youth to discuss their future of collaboration at ASEAN-Korea Youth Summit

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF), the Republic of Korea in cooperation with the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK) and ASEAN University Network (AUN) is going to organise the ASEAN-Korea Youth Summit on 25-27 November 2020 via EzView online system. The ASEAN-Korea Youth Summit is organised following the statement of the 'ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit 2019' in Busan, emphasizing the need for promoting exchanges and strengthening cooperation in the youth sector between ASEAN and Korea.

The Youth Summit will bring together 110 student representatives from 10 ASEAN Member States and the Republic of Korea to discuss the policies, mechanisms, and instruments of ASEAN-Korea cooperation, including the implementation of the ROK’s New Southern Policy in the three dimensions; People, Peace, Prosperity. As an immediate output, the event will deliver a set of recommendations proposed and adopted by the youth of ASEAN-Korea, which will submit to the ASEAN Senior officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) and other related forums through the ASEAN Secretariat.

The 110 youth participants have actively participated in the orientation on 24 October 2020 to get to know their colleagues from ASEAN countries and Korea and have been briefed the procedures of the pre-activities, including break out group session and ice-breaking activities on 23-24 November 2020 and the official programme on 25-27 November 2020.

At the Opening Ceremony on 25 November 2020, the youth participants will have the benefit of hearing a congratulatory remark from H.E. Dato’ Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary General of ASEAN and the keynote session from H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, the Executive Secretary of ESCAP and Ms. Ji Eun Chung, CEO of CODIT.
