On 30 November 2020, the AUN Student Consultation Workshop was held to consult AUN student leaders on the future of the ASEAN region as well as the path to stronger collaborations between their student associations.

With the year quickly coming to a close, multiple international agencies reached out to the ASEAN University Network to connect with ASEAN youth. As part of its 75th anniversary, the United Nations launched a program to figure out what the people of the world sees as priority areas. Additionally, the ASEAN Secretariat has also reached out so that ASEAN youth can be a part of the Expo 2020 to be held in Dubai. The Expo is a world fair in which nations come to exhibit their innovations, achievements, and distinctions. This year, ASEAN has its own pavilion and ASEAN youth will be contributing to it.

The workshop was conducted to connect ASEAN student leaders together to discuss how they plan to answer these calls from international agencies. After thorough discussion, a plethora of ideas and tangible examples were presented to the AUN Secretariat for further consideration. The students also began work on realizing the ideas that came as a result of their discussions.

Finally, in order to begin work on the ideas generated from their discussions as well as solidify and institutionalize their working relationships for future generations, the students worked with the Secretariat to begin outlining a formal structure for future meetings to further the ASEAN youth agenda.
