AUN-QA and MyQAN connect in promoting Higher Education quality assurance in Malaysia

  • AUN-QA, in collaboration with MyQAN, organised “AUN-QA An Introduction of Potentials and Prospects” virtually on 12 May 2022, 9.00-10.30 AM (GMT+7). The event garnered 61 attendees from MyQAN Member universities, public and private universities in Malaysia.
  • This collaboration between the two top higher education quality assurance organisations in the region was geared to promote the AUN-QA to wider participants in Malaysia.
  • Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, AUN Executive Director, delivered his opening remark introducing AUN-QA’s continuation of services throughout the pandemic and its impact to higher education across the region. Dr. Choltis hoped this event would serve as a fruitful opportunity for the sub-network to introduce itself to universities in Malaysia.
  • Prof. Ir. Dr. Shahrir Abdullah, Deputy Chairperson of the AUN-QA Council, presented AUN-QA in introducing the sub-network’s history, operation and activities to MyQAN Member universities.

The ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Secretariat, in collaboration with the Malaysian Higher Education Institutions Quality Assurance Network (MyQAN), organised “AUN-QA An Introduction of Potentials and Prospects” virtually on 12 May 2022, 9.00-10.30 AM (GMT+7). The event garnered 61 attendees from MyQAN Member universities, public and private universities in Malaysia. This event marked one of the biggest collaborations between the two top higher education quality assurance networks in the region.

The objective of the collaboration was for AUN-QA to introduce itself and connect with MyQAN Member universities in its mission to promote higher education quality assurance in the region. The event served as a platform for AUN-QA to share its history and activities, as well as to provide the information on how to apply for membership to those who are interested.

In his opening remark, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Executive Director, highlighted AUN-QA’s active continuation of its operation and effective delivery of its quality assurance services challenges posed by the pandemic. According to Dr. Choltis, the main impact of AUN-QA's operation is on quality improvement and enhancement of higher education institutions in the ASEAN region. Lastly, Dr. Choltis hoped the event would serve as a fruitful opportunity for AUN-QA to introduce its history, operation and activities to universities in Malaysia.

During the informative session, Prof. Ir. Dr. Shahrir Abdullah, Deputy Chairperson of the AUN-QA Council, delivered a presentation introducing AUN-QA to MyQAN Member universities. The subjects covered in the presentation ranged from the thematic network’s history, operation, activities as well as how to apply for membership.

At the end of the meeting, there was an announcement of the next event: Session 2: Sharing practice and management of AUN QA assessment recognition from Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), expected to be organised in August 2022. Please stay tuned for more information.
