Top Two Universities of the ASEAN Region Took Part in the 303rd and 304th AUN-QA Programme Assessments

303rd AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Mahidol University (MU)

  • The 303rd AUN-QA Programme Assessment (on-site site visit) was held at MU, Thailand, from 14 – 16 November 2022. Four study programmes were assessed, namely:
  1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Programme (Salaya Campus)
  2. Doctor of Pharmacy Programme (Phayathai Campus)
  3. Bachelor of Engineering Programme in Environmental Engineering and Disaster Management (Kanchanaburi Campus)
  4. Master of Nursing Science Programme (International Programme) (Salaya Campus)
  • MU is under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
  • MU has been operated for over 129 years since the establishment of “Siriraj Hospital” in 1888, then developed into a medical school the following year. His Late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej bestowed upon the name after His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla. The university has continued to progress in all aspects to stay relevant and conform to the rapidly changing world and society. The significant role of the university is to produce quality graduates, who are knowledgeable in their chosen fields and mindful of morality, to serve as human capital for the country’s current development. The university’s current milestone is being ranked as the top university in the region and No.1 in Thailand.
  • This was MU’s 8th Programme Assessment and their 6th site visit Programme Assessment with AUN-QA.

304th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at the University of the Philippines (UP)

  • The 304th AUN-QA Programme Assessment (online/remote site visit) was held at UP, the Philippines, from 21 - 25 November 2022. Four study programmes were assessed, namely:
  1. Bachelor of Science in Fisheries
  2. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology
  3. Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology
  4. Bachelor of Science in Economics
  • UP was founded on 18 June 1908 through Act No. 1870 of the Philippine Assembly. Later, on 29 April 2008, Republic Act No. 9500—The University of the Philippines Charter of 2008—was signed into law, making UP become the national university of the Philippines. Today UP is a university system composed of eight constituent universities spread across 21 campuses within the country. It stays committed to performing its multiple mandates as a lead university in setting academic standards and initiating innovations in teaching research and faculty development.
