AUN-QA Overview: Back-to-Back Assessments in Vietnam with the 324th and 325th Programme Assessment

Back-to-back assessments in Vietnam as the AUN-QA visited Can Tho University and Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City for the 324^th and the 325^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment.

The 324^th Programme Assessment was held via an on-site visit from 18-20 April 2023 for Can Tho University, Vietnam. The 324^th Programme Assessment marked the sixth time Can Tho University welcomed the team of AUN-QA Assessors for a programme assessment. It marked AUN-QA’s first on-site return to Can Tho after the COVID-19 pandemic as well!

Meanwhile, the 325^th Programme Assessment was held via an on-site visit from 25-27 April 2023 for the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City. The 325^th Programme Assessment marked the fourth time AUN-QA returned for a programme assessment at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City.

324^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Can Tho University

The 324^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment was carried out via an on-site visit to Can Tho University from 18-20 April 2023. AUN-QA’s team of distinguished assessors had the pleasure of assessing four study programmes consisting of:

1. Bachelor of Science in English Studies
2. Master in Aquaculture (instructed in English)
3. Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
4. Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science

• Can Tho University is a public university under the Ministry of Education and Training.
• Can Tho University was initially named Can Tho Institute of Higher Learning during its establishment in 1966. In 1975, it was renamed to Can Tho University (CTU). CTU has been the driving force and the decisive influence on the development of the Mekong Delta region (MDR) of Vietnam. It is the national key university and is known as the centre of cultures, sciences, and technologies of the MDR. Ranking-wise, CTU was ranked 7th in Vietnam by the QS National Ranking and ranked in the top 351-400 universities in Agriculture and Forestry for the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021. CTU currently offers 109 bachelor’s, 48 master’s, and 19 doctoral training programmes to a total number of 47,594 students. Some of their outstanding majors include Agriculture, Aquaculture, Technology, and Environment.
• The 324^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment marked the sixth programme assessment carried out by AUN-QA for Can Tho University.

325^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City

The 325^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment was carried out via an on-site visit to the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City from 25-27 April 2023. AUN-QA’s team of distinguished assessors had the pleasure of assessing four study programmes consisting of:

1. Bachelor of Engineering in Automation and Control Engineering Technology (ACET) 
2. Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronic Engineering Technology (MEET)
3. Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science (CS)
4. Bachelor of Engineering in Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA)

• Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City is a public and autonomous university under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
• Tracing its root from the Go Vap Vocation School established by Don Bosco priests in 1956, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) has made remarkable improvements and considerable transformations in all aspects and is now among the higher education institutions paving its path toward excellence. Officially recognized as Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City in 2004, the university has significantly developed to become one of the biggest educational and training institutions in Vietnam. At first glance, the name of IUH might suggest intensive training and education in the fields of engineering and technology. However, the university has been successful in diversifying its training to cater to the society’s needs for human resources in economic and social areas as well. IUH now houses 19 faculties and institutes, ranging from the Faculty of Law to the Institute of Environmental Science, Engineering, and Management.
