AUN Programme Officer;

ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat in collaboration with ASEAN Focus Group (AFG VG) engaged with four stakeholder organisations and seven universities in New South Wales (NSW) and explored potential opportunities in enhancing partnerships and collaborations between AUN and New South Wales higher education institutions during the Scoping Visit under the ASEAN Australia Education Dialogue (AAED).

During the 7-day visit from 27 November to 3 December 2022, the AUN delegation team met with four stakeholder organisations alongside seven universities. The four stakeholder organisations are the ASEAN Australia Education Dialogue (AAED), the National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS), Study NSW, and Times Higher Education (THE). All of which are striving towards the betterment of Higher Education for instructors and students in the region.

The Secretariat also met with NEAS’s seven quality assurance (QA) partnered universities which are Macquarie University, Australian Catholic University (North Sydney Campus), University of Technology Sydney, University of Wollongong, University of Sydney, Western Sydney University, and the University of Newcastle. A very efficient dialogue with these prestigious universities opened up opportunities for collaboration that will in turn foster future collaborations between ASEAN and Australia.

Ultimately, the AUN delegation met with positive reception and incredible representatives from all the stakeholders and universities. During the dialogue, the AUN delegates discovered existing linkages between Australia and Southeast Asia Region. The  team is eager to further strengthen the network and expand the collaborative field, with a particular focus on mobility, the English language, and Quality Assurance of the English Language Teaching (ELT) Center.

In the upcoming issues of our newsletter, the AUN delegates would like to share the insight gathered from the discussions with key stakeholders and universities. Stay tuned to find out more about our engagement with Australia!
