Mahidol University presents Healthy University Day through revolutionary “Metaverse” exhibition

On March 17, 2022, Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., President of Mahidol University (MU) presided over the event “Healthy Mahidol in the New Normal” and the launch of the online Metaverse exhibition. The event included a series of activities and presentations, including from the AUN-HPN. The exhibition is the first-ever Metaverse exhibition for Mahidol University.

During the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D., Director of Mahidol University's ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) and Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network for Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN), facilitated and presented AUN-HPN activities, including working plan, future steps and the role of the university network. 

Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), and Dr. Nattaphan Supaka, Director of the ThaiHealth Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) Relations and International Relations Development Office, also attended the event, and emphasized the importance of health promotion and supporting the university networks at both national and international levels.

Healthy University Day and the Healthy Mahidol in the New Normal displays are two AUN-HPN initiatives, which are financed by MU and ThaiHealth. These efforts, together with the Healthy University Rating System (HURS) assessment methodology being used and reviewed from December 2021 to March 2022, demonstrate MU's role as a leader in social change for health promotion. 

The four primary activities of Healthy University Day were: 

  • MU Healthy Lifestyle
  • Healthy Body: New Normal Health Promotion
  • Interactive Online Learning
  • Zero Tolerance Areas 

More than 500 participants, including university administrators, staff, and students in MU applied for the Healthy Body activity through www.mtitmahidol.com, and more than 2,000 people attended all the activities.

The virtual exhibition consisted of 3 major zones: 

  1. Presentation of AUN-HPN activities including establishing national and international networks, working plan, and communication with faculties or other related departments to present the future steps and the role of university network 
  2. Information on the future activities under the working plan for HEALTHY MAHIDOL in New Normal 
  3. Poster presentation of health promotion activities from faculties or other related
