13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting and 37th AUN-BOT Meeting successfully held in Vientiane, Lao PDR

The 37th ASEAN University Network Board of Trustees Meeting and the 13th ASEAN University Network Rectors’ Meeting, hosted by the National University of Laos and co-hosted by AUN Secretariat, were held on 27 - 28 September 2022 in Vientiane, Laos PDR. During the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting, 11 Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors, and more than 50 representatives from 28 AUN Member Universities across 10 ASEAN Countries participated in the Meeting to discuss and share their good practices, analyses, initiatives, and recommendations on AUN-related projects, programs, and activities.

AUN-QA’s Official Meetings in Viet Nam Series #1: Ministry of Education and Training

On the morning of 20 July 2022, the official meeting was held between the AUN-QA team led by Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, the Executive Director of the AUN, and the guest of honour – Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training, alongside the representatives from Higher Education Department and Viet Nam Education Management Agency (VQA) under the Ministry.

AUN-QA’s meetings with stakeholders: Exploring current QA prospects in Viet Nam

As the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) issued the Decision on recognising quality assurance activities of the AUN-QA in Vietnam, the AUN-QA has taken the opportunity to organise official on-site meetings with stakeholder organisations and partnered universities in Vietnam during 17 - 22 July 2022. The objective of this visit was to discuss the prospects of QA direction, share recent updates on QA development in the ASEAN region, and discuss further on possible collaboration in Viet Nam.

AUN-QA and MyQAN connect in promoting Higher Education quality assurance in Malaysia

AUN-QA, in collaboration with MyQAN, organised “AUN-QA An Introduction of Potentials and Prospects” virtually on 12 May 2022, 9.00-10.30 AM (GMT+7). The event garnered 61 attendees from MyQAN Member universities, public and private universities in Malaysia.

Special AUN-QA Feature: The 303rd AUN-QA Programme Assessment, Returning of Site Visits Starting at Mahidol University

The last onsite AUN-QA Programme Assessment (PA) was in February 2020, and ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, the site visits were adapted to be online. After two years since the start of the lockdowns, the AUN-QA are proud to announce the return of site visits in the AUN-QA Programme Assessment! The 303rd Programme Assessment was one of the first to see the return of site visits at Mahidol University (MU), Thailand on 14 - 16 November, 2022. This is a major step towards our commitment to see further upcoming assessments return to onsite and improve AUN-QA PA to the next level with experiences learned and technology used from online assessments.

Brunei’s Daily Newspapers featured the success of AUN-QA Tier 1 Training

Borneo Bulletin along with Media Permata by Brunei Press recorded the success of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) training course for Accomplishing Programme Assessment, Version 4.0 (Tier 1). The training was held from 31 October – 3 November 2022, in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, under the invitation and recommendation of Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam. It brought together a total of 30 participants from various educational sectors, namely the MoE, public and private higher education institutions (HEIs), and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting: AUN-TEPL Drives University Talents through Personalised Learning Technology

Continuing from last week's feature, the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting’s first agenda set forth as “Driving University Excellence through Regional and International Cooperation." The speaker, Assoc. Prof. Lieven Demeester introduced the structures and movements of the ASEAN University Network for Technology-enhanced Personalised Learning (AUN-TEPL) as a key component to drive university talents through technology.

The First ASEAN Cooperation Forum on Management of Non-Traditional Security Discussing Challenges and New Strategies For ASEAN Security Management

The Institute of Non-traditional Security (INS) – Hanoi School of Business & Administration (HSB), Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) hosted the first ASEAN Cooperation Forum on Management of Non-Traditional Security with the theme “Solidarity and Proactive Cooperation in Management and Response to Non-traditional Security Risks, Challenges, and Threats in the ASEAN Region”. The forum addressed non-traditional security risks and challenges in ASEAN, as well as suggested new approaches to non-traditional security management.

The First Agenda from the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting: Driving University Excellence through Regional and International Cooperation

At the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting on 27 September, 2022, the first agenda was “Driving University Excellence through Regional and International Cooperation”. Within this agenda were three sub-agendas and six speakers presenting examples in the area of driving university talents through technology, and how rating/ranking systems demonstrating international competition and cooperation can incentivise capacity building in Higher Education Institutions. This is an overview of the first agenda and will be followed by an in-depth article for each speaker in the weeks to come.
