The Final 2023 AUN-QA Overview: 368th and 369th Programme Assessments

For the final week of 2023, the AUN-QA team has conducted 2 programme assessments (PA) with a total of 6 programmes assessed. Below are the details on the 368^th PA at University of Transport and Communications and the 369^th PA at National University of Laos.

368^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at University of Transport and Communications (UTC)

• The 368^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment was held onsite at UTC, Viet Nam, from 12 - 14 December, 2023. Three study programmes were assessed, namely:

1. Undergraduate High Quality Program in Vietnamese - English Construction Economics
2. Undergraduate High Quality Program in Vietnamese - English General Accounting 
3. Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering (Vietnamese-English)

• UTC is under the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) of Viet nam.
• The University of Transport and Communications (UTC), originally named as College of Public Works, was reopened under the revolutionary government on November 15th, 1945. It  was officially established pursuant to the Decision No.42/CP of the Government on March 24th, 1962. The UTC has two campuses. The main campus is located at No. 3 Cau Giay street, Lang Thuong ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi and the second campus called UTC-Campus in Ho Chi Minh City is located at 450-451 Le Van Viet street, Tang Nhon Phu A ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City. The UTC has presently a total of 1,100 staffs, in which there are 825 lecturers in charge of training about 22,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The University undertakes the mission in training, research, high quality technology transfer in line with global integration and social liability to boost the sustainable development of the transport sector and that of the country.
• This was UTC’s 2nd Programme Assessment and their 1st onsite Programme Assessment with AUN-QA.

369^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at National University of Laos (NUOL)

• The 369^th AUN-QA Programme Assessment was held onsite at NUOL, Lao PDR, from 19 - 21 December, 2023. Three study programmes were assessed, namely:

1. Bachelor of Business Administration Program in General Business Management
2. Bachelor of Commerce Program in Commerce
3. Bachelor’s Programme in Development Economics and Planning

• NUOL is under the Ministry of Education and Sports of Lao PDR.
• The National University of Laos (NUOL) is the first comprehensive or full-fledged university in the history of Lao PDR. Since its establishment on November 5th, 1996, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Decree No. 50/PM, dated June, 9th 1995, the NUOL was established by amalgamation of the existing higher education institutions which were then operated under different ministries. It comprises of 10 institutions namely: The Pedagogical University of Vientiane, Polytechnic University,Medical Science University, Nabong College of Agriculture, Dongdok College of Forestry, Tadthong College of Irrigation, Institute of Architecture, Institute of Transportation, College of Electricity and Electronics and the Centre for Establishment of Veunkham Agro-Forestry University.
• This was NUOL’s 3^rd Programme Assessment and their 1^st onsite Programme Assessment with AUN-QA.
