AUN Programme Officer;

The AUN-QA Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Model Revision initiative began with the meeting on 20-21 October by the members of the AUN-QA IQA Redesign Taskforce. In the meeting, there was a thorough study and discussion on existing IQA frameworks and systems in Viet Nam and Cambodia, as well as AUN-QA’s very own IQA model. It was concluded that, in order for AUN-QA to be able to enhance IQA systems for universities, the current IQA model needs to undergo a scrutinous revision to be capable of being an effective and comprehensive guide in assisting universities to operationalize or enhance university IQA systems.

In this regard, the AUN-QA IQA Model Revision Working Group was established and mobilized to facilitate this revision with the working group members meeting for the first time on 23 - 24 January 2024. The working group consists of six members, including:

  1. Dr. Arnulfo P. Azcarraga, De La Salle University, the Philippines (Group Leader) Green Jacket AUN-QA Lead Assessor
  2. Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia, Deputy Chairperson of AUN-QA Council
  3. Prof. Dr. Suzeini Binti Abd Halim, Malaysia, AUN-QA Lead Assessor
  4. Assoc. Prof. Chavalit Wongse-ek, Mahidol University, Thailand, Deputy Chairperson of AUN-QA Council
  5. Prof. Dr. Wyona C. Patalinghug, De La Salle University, the Philippines, Special Advisor to AUN Executive Director
  6. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Vietnam, Deputy Chairperson of AUN-QA Council

This meeting was the first major step towards revising the AUN-QA IQA Model. The components that are crucial for IQA systems were thoroughly examined and considered for inclusion in the revision. As such, the key components and subcomponents have been decided for the first draft of the IQA Model Revision.

In the coming months, the revised IQA Model will be undergoing review from AUN-QA council members, advisors, and technical experts. Once finalized, approval of the new version of the IQA model will then be sought from the AUN Rectors’ and Board of Trustees Meetings of 2024.
