ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum (AYCF) Thailand Chapter Sets a Stage for Vibrant Exchange of Arts and Cultures for Youth across ASEAN

Over the course of 12-17 January 2024, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, the AUN Executive Director, along with his AUN Secretariat team, paid courtesy visits to four AUN Member Universities in Thailand, including Burapha University, Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University and Prince of Songkla University. In this regard, the four universities have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Network Members of five Institutions Operating the ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum (AYCF) Thailand to officiate their commitment to the formation and continuous activities of the ASEAN Cultural Forum (AYCF) Thailand Chapter, with Chiang Mai University scheduled to sign it in April at the annual event of AYCF Thailand.

The AYCF Thailand Chapter serves as a new breaking ground and official university collaboration which encourages strong cross-cultural connections for the region’s youths through performance arts, community projects and workshops among other stimulating activities. Established through cooperative efforts across five AUN member universities in Thailand (Burapha University, Chiang Mai University, Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University and Prince of Songkla University), the chapter fashions itself as an outstanding model for multicultural fusion, exchange and sharing. In this regard, students, professors, and graduates passionate about sharing arts, music, food and other traditions shall be able to unite and create an even greater celebration of ASEAN’s rich diversity and build life-long friendship with their multicultural and intercultural peers through the initiative’s wide ranging activities and platforms vested in the world of performance arts and cultures.

The next step of the AYCF Thailand Chapter’s grand efforts to create more opportunities in performance arts and cross-cultural exposure for youths of the ASEAN countries is the annual ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum Thailand, slated to happen in April 2024. Incubating ASEAN’s ‘Green Skills’: AUN-BE and GRI Kicked-Off New Learning Series on Sustainability and Sustainability Reporting

As businesses gradually eye sustainability as its goals, the demand is growing for young professionals equipped with ‘green skills’ who could contribute to business’ sustainability efforts. To achieve this goal, AUN-BE has partnered with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in launching a new Learning Series on Sustainability and Sustainability Reporting, a series of webinar where ASEAN universities can meet with industry experts to strengthen university-based sustainability reporting knowledge and deliver competitive learning modules that shall bring forth a new generation of ASEAN sustainability professionals.

Exploring Higher Education in Laos through Recognition Mechanisms: Key Takeaways from the 3rd CALOHEA National Meeting at National University of Laos (NUOL)

The 3rd CALOHEA National Meeting took place on April 5-6, 2023, at the Laos-Japan Institute, Dong Dok Campus, National University of Laos, with over 180 participants from 12 institutions. The event discussed the future of higher education in Laos, including recognition mechanisms, internationalization, and curriculum development, and featured feedback on Authentic Assessment from subject area groups. The events also highlighted the importance of training and awareness-raising for educators to implement Authentic Assessment effectively.
