Introducing AUN Experts: Official AUN-QA Training Specialists

2023 had been an eventful year for us at the AUN Secretariat, with several high-impact initiatives making advancement in their respective fields whether in Qualification Transformation, University’s IT Capabilities, University’s English Language Capability Improvement, Internal Quality Assurance, Institutional-Level Quality Enhancement, Cross-border Academic Collaboration, or the Student Mobility.

In light of this significant development in the network’s key impact areas, the AUN Secretariat would like to spotlight the luminaries whose valuable cooperation and dedication had contributed to the success of various AUN’s initiatives in 2023 and in 2024 shall lead the way in solidifying and amplifying the results of these key initiatives for a sustainable future.

This week, we would like to introduce you to the Official AUN-QA Training Specialists, whose experience and expertise demonstrate top-notch insight and valuable lessons for the nurturing of new generations of Quality Assurance personnel and sowing the seed of quality assurance culture in the ASEAN higher education sector.

The AUN-QA Training programmes were exclusive in 2008, with several pioneer assessors trained at the time. The first public AUN-QA Training Course for Accomplishing Programme Assessment (Tier-1) was launched in 2011 to introduce the structure and practice of AUN-QA Framework and Programme Assessment to the general community of quality assurance practitioners in the ASEAN higher education sector. Following the introduction of the Tier 1 Training, the AUN-QA Training programmes have branched into 4 training programmes, catering to different goals and needs of quality assurance personnel in ASEAN universities. The current training programmes that are provided by AUN-QA include:

1. AUN-QA Training Course for Accomplishing Programme Assessment (AUN-QA Tier 1 Training), an introductory training for quality assurance personnel of universities that would like to learn more about the system of AUN-QA and its Programme Assessment. This programme is a mandatory training for universities that wish to undergo AUN-QA Programme Assessment and Institutional Assessment;
2. AUN-QA Assessor Training Workshop for AUN-QA Programme Assessment (Tier 2 Training), an in-depth training for quality assurance personnel who are interested in learning more about the structure of the AUN-QA Programme Assessment through the lens of the AUN-QA assessors;
3. AUN-QA Training Workshop for Accomplishing Institutional Assessment, Version 3.0 (Tier 3 Training), a mandatory training for universities that wish to undergo AUN-QA Institutional Assessment;
4. Ecosystem Approach to Designing and Implementing Outcomes-Based Education Training (OBE Training), a joint workshop between the AUN-QA Network and Education Quality International (EQI) on the approach to design and implement Outcomes-Based Education; and
5. Self-Assessment Report Writing Workshop (SAR Writing Workshop), a dedicated workshop for the production of Self-Assessment Report for successful AUN-QA Programme Assessment.

To ensure that the quality of our training is reflective of the diverse context of quality assurance practices in higher education institutions, AUN-QA training programmes are led by the Official AUN-QA Training Specialists endowed with experience and expertise as AUN-QA Assessors and quality assurance practitioners to bring the best of insight and lessons to our participants. 

It is the greatest pleasure and honour of the AUN Secretariat and the AUN-QA Secretariat to be able to work alongside and trailblaze the path of quality assurance in ASEAN higher education in partnership with these dignitaries.
