AUN-QA Overview: 378th, 379th, and 380th Programme Assessment

In the last two weeks of March, the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) has continued providing its quality assurance services in the form of programme assessments (PA) in The Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam, including: 

  • The 378th PA at University of the Philippines (UP) with 4 Bachelor of Science programmes assessed; 
  • The 379th PA at Foreign Trade University (FTU) where 4 programmes in total were assessed, with 3 being Masters’ programmes and 1 being a Bachelors’ programme; and 
  • The 380th PA at King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) with 2 programmes being assessed, which included the Masters and Doctors programmes for Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

378th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at University of the Philippines (UP)

University Overview:

The University of the Philippines was founded on 18 June 1908 through Act No. 1870 of the Philippine Assembly “to provide advanced instruction in literature, philosophy, the sciences, and arts, and to give professional and technical training” to every qualified student regardless of “age, sex, nationality, religious belief, or political affiliation.”
On 29 April 2008, Republic Act No. 9500 known as “The University of the Philippines Charter of 2008” was signed into law. UP was declared as the national university and mandated to “perform its unique and distinctive leadership in higher education and development”. 

UP is now a university system composed of eight constituent universities spread in 21 campuses across the archipelago. It stays committed to performing its multiple mandates as a lead university in setting academic standards and initiating innovations in teaching research and faculty development; graduate university; research university; public service university; and regional and global university.

This was UP’s 9th Programme Assessment and their 6th onsite Programme Assessment with AUN-QA.

 

379th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Foreign Trade University (FTU)

FTU is under the Ministry of Education and Training of Viet Nam

University Overview:

Foreign Trade University (FTU) is a university established in 1960, located in Hanoi, Vietnam. The university also has campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Ninh.

FTU is recognized as one of the most prestigious universities in Vietnam and has gained enormous achievements in providing talented graduates to the Vietnamese economy.
FTU offers a wide range of majors and specializations in economics, business, business administration, finance and banking and foreign languages. It offers both undergraduate and graduate programs for both local and foreign students. These courses are taught in Vietnamese, English, Japanese and French.

FTU provides higher education in foreign trade economics aiming at supplying human resources for the economic sector generally and foreign trade economic activities particularly, providing knowledge to community members for their specific business purposes, and simultaneously fostering the team of lecturers, academic researchers in order to contribute to national education, academic research and economic development.

This was FTU’s 5th Programme Assessment and their 3rd onsite Programme Assessment with AUN-QA.

KMUTNB is under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation of Thailand.

University Overview:

King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) was established from cooperation between Thai and German governments in 1959. Since then, KMUTNB has undergone many changes in its organization and name. KMUTNB is currently a key and leading national university in Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Vision: To be an internationally recognized university for Science, Technology, and Innovation.

KMUTNB’s Missions are: 

  • To supply qualified graduates to the society.
  • To encourage research and academic work.
  • To support public academic services.
  • To maintain national arts and culture.

This was KMUTNB’s 1st Programme Assessment and their 1st onsite Programme Assessment with AUN-QA.
