The ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum Made a Grand Return From the Pandemic Hiatus

The wait is finally over! After the COVID Pandemic shook the world, the ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum has been on hiatus for 3 years. But no more, the 18th ASEAN and 8th ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum just recently made a grand return on 14 - 19 May, 2023 in Jakarta, Universitas Indonesia where 132 delegates from 9 ASEAN+3 countries were able to partake in this spectacular cultural event!

The Astounding Success of The First CALOHEA National Meeting at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember

The CALOHEA Project has taken a major leap towards its goal of enhancing mobility and internationalization in Universities in Asia with the first National Meeting on 2 -3 March, 2023, at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia. This two-day event of knowledge sharing, open discussion, and a workshop is another step towards bringing Higher Education in SEA into a common space and enhancing mobility between SEA countries and even to other regions by implementing the 3 Core Recognition Mechanisms (RM3) into SEA Universities.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting and 37th AUN-BOT Meeting successfully held in Vientiane, Lao PDR

The 37th ASEAN University Network Board of Trustees Meeting and the 13th ASEAN University Network Rectors’ Meeting, hosted by the National University of Laos and co-hosted by AUN Secretariat, were held on 27 - 28 September 2022 in Vientiane, Laos PDR. During the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting, 11 Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors, and more than 50 representatives from 28 AUN Member Universities across 10 ASEAN Countries participated in the Meeting to discuss and share their good practices, analyses, initiatives, and recommendations on AUN-related projects, programs, and activities.

AUN-QA’s Official Meetings in Viet Nam Series #1: Ministry of Education and Training

On the morning of 20 July 2022, the official meeting was held between the AUN-QA team led by Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, the Executive Director of the AUN, and the guest of honour – Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training, alongside the representatives from Higher Education Department and Viet Nam Education Management Agency (VQA) under the Ministry.

AUN-QA’s meetings with stakeholders: Exploring current QA prospects in Viet Nam

As the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) issued the Decision on recognising quality assurance activities of the AUN-QA in Vietnam, the AUN-QA has taken the opportunity to organise official on-site meetings with stakeholder organisations and partnered universities in Vietnam during 17 - 22 July 2022. The objective of this visit was to discuss the prospects of QA direction, share recent updates on QA development in the ASEAN region, and discuss further on possible collaboration in Viet Nam.

SUN/SixERS Cross-Cultural Event: Cultural Dialogue ventures on the profound parallel between Buddhism and One Piece

The SUN/SixERS Cross Cultural Event 2022: Cultural Dialogue session was organized to promote and carry out dynamic cultural interactions among youths of Japaneses and ASEAN where students could explore the interrelationships between their favorite media and profound values in their community. This session dove deep into the contradictions of being a “Fool” and an “Enlightened One” and established the possibility of being one and the same. Students enjoyed a heartfelt discussion with a refreshing perspective on their own personal goals and their mission for the shared future of the global community.

The successful co-organisation of the ASEAN-Japan Virtual Cultural Exchange Programme 2022 (AUN-SUN/SixERS Cross-Cultural Event) on 29 November - 1 December 2022, proves once again that cultural transmission is in constant motion in response to rapid changes. Networking opportunities such as these provide a unique and prestigious platform for cultural presentations, dialogue, and hands-on handicrafts while engaging in fruitful discussions with peers from all over ASEAN and Japan.

Japan-ASEAN Online Program Toward SDGs, opening up the new era of multilateral collaboration by Okayama University, SUN/SixERS, and AUN

The Japan-ASEAN online program toward UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) jointly organized by Okayama University, SUN/SixERS, and AUN held from 11 - 14 October 2022, successfully gathered over 70 participants from all across the ASEAN region and Japan. The success of the event is wholly attributed to the exemplary learning design and the cross-border platform that allow for insightful interaction among students and educators from different countries, backgrounds, educational expertise, and world views to become excellent citizens of the 21st century.

Delegates from the ASEAN Member States and ROK Gathered at ASEAN-Korea Youth Summit 2022 Closing and Awarding Ceremony

On September 27, this year’s edition of the ASEAN-Korea Youth Summit, with the theme Carbon Neutrality and ASEAN-Korea Youth, officially concluded via the ZEP platform. Participants from ASEAN countries and the Republic of Korea graced the closing ceremony. This year’s summit winning team was from the Philippines, and their project was entitled "The Aftertaste of Food Waste," which focuses on reducing the bitter side effects of inefficient food production and consumption. To end the ceremony, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network, delivered the congratulatory message to all the winners of the closing activities and to all the participants who successfully finished the whole summit, and Ms. Jessica Lee, MC of the summit, delivered the closing remarks.

Commitment and Passion: The Story Behind the 3rd AYCF Thailand at Burapha University

On 14 - 16 September 2022, Burapha University hosted the 3rd ASEAN University Network-ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum: Thailand Chapter (AUN-AYCF: Thailand Chapter) to promote the ASEAN identity, cultures and showcased the talents of Thai youths, as well as the performance for the upcoming international AYCF in Indonesia. Behind the immense success of this project lies the commitment and passion of students, alumni, and professors to pass on the legacy of Thai culture to the future generation and to share the cultures of ASEAN countries with a wider community of Thailand.
