Data is constantly scaling up in the world at every passing moment. Everyday there is more data and at a rapidly growing rate. Keeping track of it all is a challenging endeavor, but Universiti Sains Malaysia has Four Data Strategies that helps overcome this challenge. At the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting, Prof. Dr. Narimah Samat highlighted impressive high impact achievements of USM and shared valuable knowledge on Data Strategies.

Since the rise to prominence of the internet, ‘data’ is the big word everyone has been talking about, and the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting did not miss out on it as well! In this week’s coverage of the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting, we invite you to our third agenda, “Data Strategies and the Achievements of High-Impact University Missions,” where distinguished representatives from member universities shared how they are using data strategies to achieve high-impact university missions.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is one of the leading national universities in Malaysia and has been highly ranked by QS University Ranking for many years. While remaining the premium university offering world-class education and research, UTM has widened its opportunities for continuous improvement by becoming part of ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and joining the 315th AUN-QA Programme Assessment, marking the very first time that UTM’s programmes were assessed under the AUN-QA frameworks.

The days of the past where education is solely focused in a single discipline are soon to be phased out of today’s curriculums. Prof. Bundhit Eua-arporn, Ph.D., President of Chulalongkorn University (CU), presented how the future ASEAN Higher Education will be heading towards interdisciplinarity and shared how CU has been developing their vast network of education institutions. With a strong and wide network along with interdisciplinary education, CU is fully capable of preparing future generations towards a world of professional work that no longer desires graduates of a single discipline, but one with jobs that require a wide variety of skills.

AUN-QA is carrying the strong momentum of last year into 2023 by starting with three programme assessments at Holy Angel University (HAU), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and Central Luzon State University (CLSU). The team is back and ready to provide more top quality assessments for another year!
