5th AUN-University Innovation Entrepreneurship: Driving Progress and Building Global Recognition

The 5^th annual ASEAN University Network University Innovation and Enterprise (AUN-UIE) meeting on 26 November 2024 brought together academic leaders from across ASEAN, turning the wheels of collaboration to drive innovation and entrepreneurship, hosted back-to-back with another seminar titled "Empowering Students’ 21st Century Skills towards Efficiency and Equality in the Labor Market," broadening the scope of regional collaboration and dialogue.

Representing Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, these institutions came together not merely to discuss business but to share visions for a more entrepreneurial future. For those unable to attend in person, the meeting’s online broadcast ensured everyone had the opportunity to engage with the discussions.

Participants shared updates on their recent activities, providing insights into how they are fostering an entrepreneurial spirit within their institutions. Efforts ranged from encouraging students to view failure as a valuable learning experience, to tackling real-world challenges through practical financial projects. The commitment to building a resilient and innovative culture was unmistakable. Strengthening alumni networks and leveraging internal resources emerged as key strategies to ensure ideas flourish locally before scaling outward.

The meeting also served as a platform for showcasing institutional strengths in mentorship, funding strategies, and fostering global partnerships. More than a celebration of achievements, it was a collective call to action—to unite strengths and seize shared opportunities for growth.

As the day’s discussions concluded, the resounding message was one of optimism and determination. Plans to establish working groups, enhance collaboration, and elevate the network’s visibility on the global stage underscored a shared commitment to advancing ASEAN’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. With a strong foundation in place, the network is poised to reach greater heights, transforming visions into impactful realities.

LPU-B President’s Remark on Quality Assurance at 284th AUN-QA Programme Assessment

The 284th ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Programme Assessment took place online with Lyceum of the Philippines University - Batangas (LPU-B) on July 18 - July 22, 2022. In light of AUN-QA providing quality assurance assessments to the institution’s 4 Bachelor of Science programs, the AUN-QA team would like to share LPU-B President, Dr. Peter P. Laurel’s outstanding opening speech on the importance of Quality Assurance in the development of ASEAN High Education.

The 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting at Lao PDR

The 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting was conducted in Vientiane, Lao PDR, hosted by National University of Laos and co-hosted by the AUN Secretariat. In this year’s Meeting, eleven Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors, and more than fifty representatives from twenty-eight AUN Member Universities across ten ASEAN Countries participated in the Meeting, which was held under the encompassing theme “University Excellence and the Next Frontiers of ASEAN Higher Education: How AUN Member Universities Think, Lead, and Manage”.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting: Singapore Management University’s Approaches towards Interdisciplinary Education and Research

Prof. Lily Kong, President of Singapore Management University (SMU) delivered her meaningful speech delving into the second agenda “Interdisciplinarity and the Future of ASEAN Higher Education” and explained the SMU’s approaches towards interdisciplinary education and research which deliberately pave the ways for young people to make significant impacts and stipulate the work of universities to improve the lives and livelihoods of local and global communities.
